Barney's version - M. Richter

A family friend once told me this was a great book, it must have been ten years ago or something like this, so I bought it, then forgot to read it, and now I was back home for the week and went scavenging the library for something to read and found it. It reminded me of Bukowski - cynicism, vulgarity, alcohol - and in a few pages of The Sympathizer, overall too much Bukowski for me to be able to tolerate it.
